Away from the bright lights of Pop Stars, there’s a healthy dose of music coming out of Nigeria, among the latest music to go for this week are:
DSDC, Poe, Ikon – More to life
To mark the start of another year, SDC x Poe x Ikon release ‘More to life’, a song reflecting on some of the lessons they picked up over the past year and their mind set for the year ahead. ‘More to life” follows on from a successful 2017, which saw Poe signing marvin records, Ikon completing his debut album ‘Hungry 2 live” and SDC releasing their popular EP and rounding off the year with the palm wine music festival. “More to life” is produced by Spax who was responsible for SDC’s palm wine music.
Oyinkanade – ‘Oluwa’ ft Q Dot.
MTN project fame season 5 super star popularly known as Onyinkanade who is best known for his hit single ‘Adura’ featuring Olamide is back with a new song titled ‘Oluwa’ to kick off 2018. The talented artiste enlists indigenous versatile artiste Q-Dot to serve a hot collaboration that talks about how he was kept together, what has kept him going.
I Last Autograph – WO – (Olamide Cover)
I Last Autograph, a four piece metal – core/ post hardcore band based in Lagos announced the release of their latest cover ‘WO’ originally performed by Olamide. After release of their first cover “Yes/No” by BankW . In a punk style, they took it further to transforming this club banger into metal core music.
Mc Galaxy – Uh LaLa ft Nacho
MC Galaxy hits the jackpot as he becomes the first Nigerian artiste to tap into the Latin market by collaborating with Latino superstar, Nacho and signing a publishing deal with Universal Music Latin Entertainment.
Chiko Ekun – Waloda
As usual, Chiko Ekun never disappoints and hasn’t put in a wrong foot, yet still keeps up the high standard he has been setting with mixing and mastering credit to spyritmyx.

Lamboginny – Kiri Jobo Jobo (Shaku)
Afro dance hall star, lamboginny has surfaced with a brand new tune, a post album song titled having unleashed a 16 tracked album salt in October 2017 with an historic launch concert at the Kirikiri medium prison in Lagos, the social- trainer decided to topple the great effort with a blend of Kirikiri prison and Shaku Shaku influenced jump which he called kiri jobo-jobo.
Dammy Krane – Credit Card
World star Inc head honcho-Dammy Krane stays consistent with the releases as he churns out yet another spanking new single titled ‘Credit Card”. He has had his fair share of controversy this year and now channeling his energy into his music.
Teni – Pareke
After the success of her recent single ‘Fargin’ which got her signed to rising fernale artiste, Teniola Apata popularly known as Teni entertainer rounds up a pretty dope year with this very street ready tune dubbed ‘Pareke’.

They Booed, Threw Bottles At Me – Tems Recounts
R&B star, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has recounted the early-career challenges she faced, revealing that she was once booed out of the stage while performing at a school event.
Speaking in an interview with Newsmen, the Crazy Tings crooner shared that she wasn’t only booed but was also harassed with plastic bottles.
“I remember one time I was going to perform at my school as an up-and-coming singer and I thought I was going to receiving a standing ovation.
“But I got booed. They even threw plastic bottles at me,” she recalled.
Tems explained that despite the embarrassing incident and other such rejections, she remained determined to pursue a career in music.
The Tide Entertainment reports that Tems admitted that some of the initial rejections she faced could be due to her conviction to stick to her originality instead of doing covers or familiar sounds like most of her peers.
The Grammy-winning singer said looking back now, she is glad that she didn’t compromise her style despite the initial pressures.

Primeboy Pleads For Mohbad’s Burial
A close associate of late singer Mohbad, Primeboy, has appealed for the artiste’s burial nearly three years after his death.
According to him, Mohbad’s body remains in the mortuary since September 12, 2023, pending burial arrangements.
The Tide Entertainment reports that in a statement Primeboy urged the family, public, and government to permit the burial, stating, “It’s been almost three years since Mohbad left us. His body is still in the mortuary. I’m begging the family, I’m begging the public, I’m begging the government, please let’s bury our brother. He deserves a befitting burial.”
It would be recalled that Mohbad’s death sparked public outrage, protests, and investigations. Ongoing autopsy examinations, police inquiries, and legal proceedings have delayed burial arrangements amid family disagreements and public scrutiny.
