Easter: FRSC Deploys 74 Personnel To Benin-Ore Expressway
The Federal Road Safety, Corps (FRSC) yesterday said that it had deployed 74 personnel, three patrol vans and one ambulance to patrol the Benin-Ore expressway during the Easter period.
The Ore Unit Commander of the corps in Ondo, Philip Ozonandi, disclosed this to newsmen in Ore.
Ozonandi said that the special patrol scheduled for March 28 to April 3 was to ensure free flow of traffic on the road before, during and after the Easter celebration.
He also said that the measure was to check the excesses of some motorists in violating traffic rules which might lead to road crashes during the period.
“The special patrol for the Easter celebration began on Wednesday nationwide, and we have deployed 74 personnel, three patrol vans and one ambulance on the Benin-Ore expressway.
“The special patrol is to ensure free flow of traffic for commuters and to check the excesses of motorists against the violation of traffic rules which can cause road crashes.
“We also will monitor reckless driving, over speeding, overloading, use of expired tyres, driving without seat belts, phone calls while driving, driving without drivers’ licences,” Ozonandi said.
He, however, urged motorists to be patient and drive safely to avert dangers and road crashes, especially in areas where road constructions were ongoing.
The FRSC unit commander also urged the public to call the FRSC toll-free number 112 and 211 in case of any eventuality or emergency on the Benin-Ore expressway.
