Nigeria’Il Unite Through Economic Diversification – Minister
The Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Hajia Aisha Abubakar, last Saturday said the country would unite through diversification of economy.
Abubakar said this at the 6th graduation ceremony of the Glisten International Academy, in Abuja.
She said that Nigeria being a blessed country needed to channel its strength on diversification of the economy to build the nation.
She said that rather than the usual oil the country was depending on, it could also depend on groundnut, bitumen, zinc, among others.
The minister said that schools should also endeavour to build the students as they would be the leaders of “this great country and help to bring diversification to bear”.
The Executive Director, Glisten International Academy, Mrs Samira Jibir, said the graduation was another milestone in the history of the school.
Jibir said that the students had been brought up not only in the academic line but in values, morals and upbringing so that they would be able to lead the nation in the future.
She said that education should not just be academic but all round grooming of the students.
She said that diversification of the educational system required complete change from seeking white collar job but looking out for jobs with skills.
“Entrepreneurs is what we need, we need them to go out and do unimaginable things.
“This is the basis of education we are giving our students in the school.
“It is unfortunate that most schools focus on academics. For us we are taking it to different levels and that is ICT.
“The children of today are digital and for them to be equipped, they must have that basis,” she said.
Jibir, however, called on the Federal Government to bring in all stakeholders, especially private school owners in the preparation of schools curriculum.
Mr Sadiq Nurudeen, the overall best graduating student of the school commended the school management, teachers and parents for the tremendous impartation they gave the students to succeed.
He called on other students to play greater roles in ensuring best performance toward building a great nation.
