Kickboxing Official Solicits Corporate Support For Grassroots Championships
The Technical Director of Lagos State Kickboxing Association (LSKA), Adegboyega Adeniji-Adele, has appealed to corporate organisations to support its proposed championships aimed to promoting the sport at the grassroots.
Adeniji-Adele told newsmen in Lagos that the association plan to hold U-15 and U-17 championships in August and require necessary assistance to successfully host the events.
He said that the championship was part of the body’s programme to capture upcoming athletes, mostly students currently on holiday.
“We will require the assistance of corporate organisations to solidify our arrangements, purchase t-shirts, print on them which we are going to distribute to the participants.
“Another important area is on the entertainment aspect, where we really need food and beverages, so we need companies to provide us with things to take care of the children.
“The participants are children that are still in school, so we will appreciate other gift items comprising stationeries, bags and lunch box,” he said.
The director said that the association run open training on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the National Stadium, as part of the preparations and to update young athletes on rules of the sport.
He added that some had resumed training, urging others who are yet to register in the programme to do so.
“Training has started and it holds three times a week, the coaches are here and the ones that have started are happy and are doing well.
“We know that most of these upcoming athletes are not familiar with the techniques of sport, this is why this training is necessary,” he said.
Adeniji-Adele urged parents and guardians to come with their wards and register them to ensure that they have the back-up from the home, and must come with their kits.
