CRSG Signs N31.7bn Road Project Contract
The Cross River State Government has signed a contract with Sydney Construction Company, for the dualisation of Mfom-Okpoma-Okuku-Ogoja Abochiche-Obudu-Obudu-Ranch Road, at the cost of 31.7 at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Works in Calabar.
Represented at the occasion by the State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Dane Osim-Asu, Governor Ben Ayade noted that it was part of the governor’s signature project located at the Northern Senatorial District of the state.
Osim-Asu noted that the contract was advertised, due process was followed, adding that history is being created in the Prof. Ben Ayade-led administration with the execution of the road project.
Speaking further,Osim-Asu maintained that considering the present economic recession, they considered the contractor who bided the least price and has the capacity to do the job and produce result, and Sydney Construction Company emerged winner of the contract.
The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Dane Osim-Asu signed the road contract on behalf of the Cross River State Government, while Mr. Hayssam Tannous signed on behalf of Sydney Construction Company.
The Letter of Award of Contract and a copy of the signed agreement was presented to the company, and was asked to forward a letter of acceptance of contract as well as the work plan to the Commissioner for Works within seven days.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Charles Eyong commended the state governor for his vision on developmental projects in the state and for his outstanding leadership qualities.
He also thanked the Commissioner for Works for his maximum support to the Ayade’s signature projects that are already transforming Cross River State, and assured that the governor’s vision will be actualised.
Responding, Mr. Hayssam Tannous of Sydney Construction Company and the Consultant from SIM Infrastructure Development Company, Mr. Joe Zhang, thanked the state governor and the Commissioner for Works for giving them opportunity to showcase their engineering talent in the state and promised to put in their best to achieve result.
The Federal Controller of Works, Engineer C. B. Agabara commended the state government for the bold step already taken, noting that the work of 440km was not a small job.
He added that when the road is concluded, it will attract development in the state and nation at large.
Agbara charged the contractor to be specific and make sure they work according to specifications and do the best they can to achieve government goals and objectives.
Other stakeholders that witnessed the event were the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Igwe Ikechukwu and his officers, representative from Zenith Bank, Mr. Nnaemeka V. Ohaeri, management and staff, Ministry of Works, amongst others.
