Club President Vows To Make Tennis Popular
The President of All
Stars Tennis Club, Old Port Harcourt township, Sotonye Isekiri, has said that his organisation would partner with other tennis associations to make the sports popular and interesting.
He stated that the Club has plans to organize three weeks tennis training for children between eight and 15 years.
Isekiri made this known in an exclusive interview with Tidesports, on Saturday, shortly after their one day tournament, at No. 5 Field Former Information Centre, Old Port Harcourt township, saying that in training the children will learn the basics of tennis and how to play.
According to him, the major reason of the tournament is to strengthen the existing cordinal relationship between them and other All Stars Tennis clubs in the state.
“This tournament is to promote the game (Tennis) and strengthen the existing cordinal relationship we and other All Stars Clubs in the state, like the Police, NPA and others.
Besides, we have plans to organise tennis clinic for children as this is a way to catch them young”, Isekiri said.
The President used the forum to call on state governments most especially Rivers State to give special attention to tennis.
