Delta Govt Places Restriction On Articulated Vehicles
The newly constituted Delta
State Task Force on Decongestion of Tankers and Trailers at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Expressway and its environs has directed petroleum tankers and other articulated vehicles to observe “movement restriction’ at Ubeji-Ifie Roads and environs between the hours of 6am-9am and 4pm-8pm daily to enable residents in the area have access to their various places of work.
Speaking on behalf of members of the Task Force, ACP Mohammed Mu’azu, in a press conference held at the Government House Annex in Warri stated that the directive was for the general public, particularly the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), PENGASSAN, Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association (PTDA ), National Association of Tanker Owners and National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas, (NUPENG).
Mu’azu, who is also the Warri Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Force, also warned that all petroleum tankers and other articulated vehicles parked indiscriminately along the road should be evacuated by its owners on or before Friday, October 28, 2016, noting that, “The hazardous parking poses danger to lives and motorists making use of the road.”
He enjoined those concerned to adhere to the directive as defaulters would be sanctioned accordingly.
Mu’azu, also urged members of the task force to work with security agencies to achieve the desired objective of the state government, just as he promised to furnish the media with details of erring vehicles.
