RSG Approves Desilting Of Drainages In PH
The Rivers State
Government has approved the desilting of all drainages and gutters in Port Harcourt why and environs.
Chairman of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro Felix Obuah disclosed this in an interview with newsmen recently in Port Harcourt.
Obuah said that the move is part of the effort of the state government to check the incessant flooding in Port Harcourt city and environs.
The RIWAMA chairman said that the agency would also commenced the demolition of houses built on water right ways.
He said that the Agency is working with various refuse contractors to ensure prompt evacuation of refuse from the city.
He also said that the Agency will embark on sensitization campaign against dumping of refuse in drainages and gutters.
The RIWAMA was also commend Governor Nyesom Wike for his effort towards returning Port Harcourt to its garden city status and urged chairmen of the 23 local government areas to take the issue of sanitation seriously in their respective areas.
