RSG, MWAN To Vaccinate 1,000 Girls
The Rivers State Government has indicated interest to partner with the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) in Rivers State, to vaccinate a total of one thousand secondary school girls in Rivers State against cancer before the end of the year.
Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, made this known Tuesday, in Port Harcourt at the opening ceremony of the Rivers State branch of Medical Women Association of Nigeria’s week.
In her comments, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo who was not just the mother of the day, but also a founding member of the “dignified” association, expressed satisfaction at the efforts of the body in making sure that the health and general wellbeing of women and children in Rivers State are placed on the front burner of their activities.
She said that Rivers State Government, under the leadership of Chief Nyesom Wike is committed to providing affordable and accessible healthcare services to its citizens. She therefore pledged the government’s preparedness to partner with the medical women in Rivers State to vaccinate (1000) one thousand school girls before the end of the year.
In her response, the President MWAN, Rivers Chapter, Dr. Rosemary Ogu, expressed gratitude to the Rivers State government for raising the number of school girls on their list for cancer vaccination this year to one thousand from one hundred that the body vaccinated last year.
