Partey Impresses Simeone, Atletico
Ghanaian midfielder
Thomas Partey received special praise from Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone after their 1-1 draw with Barcelona last night.
The Black Stars midfielder was a 73rd minute substitute and helped his team claim a valuable point in their La Liga clash at Camp Nou.
Ivan Rakitic gave Barcelona the lead late in the first half, but Angel Correa levelled proceedings shortly after the hour mark.
After the match, Simeone explained that Partey’s power in the middle of the park helped them play on the counter and offer an attacking threat to the hosts.
“He gave us power in the midfield to counter better in the last few minutes with [Fernando] Torres, [Antoine] Griezmann and Correa,” the Argentine coach said.
Partey’s next chance to impress in Atletico colours will arrive on Sunday afternoon when they host Deportivo La Coruna.
