NLC Tasks FG On Policies To Reposition Economy
The leadership of the Ni
geria Labour Congress (NLC), has urged the Federal Government to adopt policies of re-positioning the nation’s economy.
In a statement issued on Friday, the National President of NLC, Comrade Wabba Ayuba, said that the Federal Government adopting such policies to reposition the nation’s economy would drive growth and create jobs for millions of Nigerians.
According to him, the present administration must stop engaging in blame the game on individuals, parties and social happenings on the past administration but rather focus on tackling the present challenges, pointing out that the present administration was voted into office to create the enabling environment for the creation of wealth and economic prosperity for Nigerians and not hardship.
The NLC President explained that in looking at the economic challenges currently bedeviling the nation, some of the commentators, including the governors who were part of the previous administration are not ready to take responsibility, noting that they take delight in shifting blames.
He said that the present government must take responsibility rather than shifting the goal post when the game is almost over.
Ayuba said that the present federal government cannot extricate some members of the ruling party as well as cabinet members of the present government from the rot of the yester years, stressing that all hands must be on deck to proffer economic solution to the current situation.
He further explained that the inability of some state governors to pay workers salaries is not just about the economic recession being faced by Nigerians but endemic mismanagement.
The NLC boss urged President Buhari to tackle poverty and the economic hardship as Nigerians are dying of hardship and daily losing their jobs.
He said that the NLC would support experts to proffer solutions to the problems.
