Police Assure Akpabuyo, Bakassi Residents Of Safety

lice command has assured residents of Akpabuyo and Bakassi Local Governments Areas of adequate safety as they go about their lawful businesses
The command’s spokesman, ASP Irene Ugbo, gave the assurance in an interview with our correspondent in Calabar recently.
Ugbo described as false claims that the two local governments were under the control of militants.
He said the police had deployed a full team of armed policemen in the areas to forestall any militant’s attacks.
The spokesman said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Jomoh Ozi-Obeh, accompanied by Navy, Army, Air Force and Civil Defence had visited both local governments areas to assure residents of their safety.
“No militants group is holding any part of Cross River to ransom. We are doing our very best to protect the lives of all Cross River people.
“Bakassi and Akpabuyo Local Governments are not under any control of these militants group.
“We are assuring residents of both local government areas that the police will continue to safeguard their lives and property.
“We have visited both local governments; residents in those areas are going about their normal lawful businesses. It is wrong to speculate that the militants are in control.
“We will continue to police the creeks of Akpabuyo and Bakassi in other to stem the activities of these militants,” she said.
She advised residents in those areas to always report all suspicious movement around them to the nearest security agencies for prompt action.
