Stakeholder Wants Taskforce For Abandoned Vehicles Removal
A stakeholder on
road transport, Olisa Anele Jude, has called on the Rivers State Government to set up a taskforce for the immediate removal of all abandoned vehicles and trucks littering along major roads and streets of Port Harcourt and its environs.
Jude, who made the call in a chat with our correspondent in Port Harcourt on Monday said the abandoned broken down vehicles were defacing the beauty of the city, especially with the constructed network of roads.
According to him, the construction and rehabilitation of roads in the city had given the state a face-lift, only for the abandoned vehicles to de-face Port Harcourt and its environs, stressing that the abandoned vehicles obstruct free flow of traffic and prone to road crash and criminal hide outs.
He said a taskforce responsible for the removal of these abandoned broken down vehicles, would further show the passion of the present administration in road transportation and beautification of the city.
The transporter further noted that with the fixing of the street lights, traffic lights and bus stands, something should be done to bring back the Garden City with night life, pointing out that since the state had started wearing a new look, efforts should be geared towards ensuring sanity and free flow of traffic.
He commended the present administration in the state under Governor Nyeson Wike for the massive infrastructural development especially good road networks and enjoined him to keep up the pace.
