One Year Anniversary: Bizman Scores Wike High
As Governor Nyesom Wike of
Rivers State clocks one year in office, a Port Harcourt-based businessman, Mr Emeka Iwezor, has scored him high, saying that his developmental strides within the period are living testimonies of the new vision he proclaimed during his electioneering campaigns.
Iwezor in an interview with The Tide recently noted that Wike proved his ability and determination to rule the state from the day one he took over the mantle of leadership of the state and surmounted all the obstacles that came his way.
Awarding the governor over 60 per cent, the businessman expressed the hope that he would record more achievements that would impact on the generality of Rivers people and enjoined him to focus more on security.
He urged those perpetrating killings and crimes in the state to desist from such acts and join hands to make the state more comfortable and peaceful, observing that in the next one year, the state would witness tremendous developmental changes.
Iwezor called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to intensify and hasten its action in concluding the remaining re-run legislative elections in Rivers State, pointing out that the delay was slowing down the proceedings of the state House of Assembly as some areas were not properly represented.
Also calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to adopt dialogue in tackling the resurgence of militancy in the Niger Delta, he stressed the need for the president to act fast on the issue of ravaging herdsmen in parts of the country so as to ensure the security of lives and property.
“Crushing of Niger Delta militants who blew up oil installations as claimed by a new group called Niger Delta Avengers is not the best way to handle the problem as the actual actors are not known. Any such action will surely affect innocent persons, so the best option is dialogue with the people of the Niger Delta region to know their grievances and how to resolve the issues’, he opined.
