Go Round FC Wins Federation Cup …Set For Naira Rain
Nationwide League
side, Go Round FC of Omoku, Rivers State yesterday at the Sharks FC Stadium, Port Harcourt over-run the Premier League team, Rivers United to emerge state champions of the 2016 Federation Cup competition.
The Bro Felix Obuah sponsored team beat United 4-2 on penalties after scores stood at 1-1 post regulation time in the final of the state competition. It is the first time Go Round FC, which last participated in the competition in 2013, will become champions, and first time since 1999 that any club other than the defunct Sharks or Dolphins FCs would win the title in recent history.
Apparently buoyed by the promise of Naira rain by their sponsor, Bro Obuah, Go Round players, who had come close to beating Sharks and flying the state’s flag in the National Competition in 2013 dug deep to upset their more illustrious opponents.
With the victory, Go Round players are now in for a naira rain as their sponsor in now bound to splash the cash he promised on the eve of the match.
Bro Obuah had promised a N200,000 per goal and sum of N20,000,000 to the team for victory over Rivers United, while each official of the team and Head Coach, respectively would get the sum of N500,000 and N700,000. Also, the club’s General Manager will smile home with N1,000,000.
Coach of the team, Ngozi Elechi was in joyous mood after the final whistle and said that his team had always had the potential to be among the best in the state but was always frustrated by the politics surrounding their previous games against the state owned teams.
He however, said that the club’s major target this season would be to gain promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL but assured that they would represent the state very well in the National federation Cup competition.
To get to the final, Go Round beat SKE and Global Stars FCs 1-0 and 3-0, respectively in the quarter and semi final stages. The club and Rivers United will now fly the flag of the state in the National Federation Cup Competition.

Poor welfare forced me to dump Delta for Enugu, says world – Nwachukwu
The sudden departure of Nwachukwu, a multiple gold medallist, from Team Delta to the Coal City, Enugu , sparked controversy within the sports family, with officials of Delta State Sports Commission accusing the president of the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria, Sunday Odebode, of manipulating the system for the athlete to dump the state.
But Nwachukwu, who broke the World Record to win a gold medal for Team Nigeria in the Women’s Discus F42 event at the just-concluded Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, has cleared the air on the circumstances that led to her movement to Enugu State.
Speaking with The Tidesports source report, shortly after winning the gold medal, Nwachukwu said: “It is not true that anybody aided my movement from Delta State to Enugu. Rather, it was Delta State that forced me to leave because of poor remuneration.
