Kanu Stages Oldies Tourney In Owerri
Two-time African
Footballer of the Year, Nwankwo Kanu will be hosting a 7-aside tournament for players from 40 years of age and above.
The event, billed to take place at the Nwankwo Kanu Sports Centre in Owerri, will start from March 27 and through the forthcoming Easter holidays.
Speaking ahead of the event , the Arsenal legend said the tournament was put together as part of his health and wellness campaign for soccer aficionados in Owerri and it’s environs.
“This is going to be a tournament to keep 40-years-old football fans fit and healthy,” stated the 1996 Atlanta Olympic soccer gold medal-winning captain.
“It will create platform for bonding and educate the old ones about health issues and need for continuous exercises.”
Kanu equally said the event was an opportunity for advertisers to promote their goods and services with huge attendance expected at the sports centre after it hosted a successful fiesta during the recently held Valentine on February 14.
