Handover: Ogolo Advocates Succession Among RSNC Staff
The former General
Manager of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), Mr Celestine Ogolo has appealed to the State government to always appoint a staff of the Corporation to head the establishment for the overall interest of the Corporation.
Mr Celestine Ogolo made this appeal while officially handing over the baton of leadership of the Corporation to the Acting General Manager, Mr Soye Wilson Jamabo during a brief ceremony held at the Corporation board room in Port Harcourt yesterday.
He said appointing a staff as the General Manager would make the Corporation continue to be the leading state owned newspaper in the South-South, adding thatThe Tide newspaper had been recognised in all the South-South States.
According to him, the newspaper has been commended by the readers within and outside the shores of the country, adding that The Tide had also won some internationally recognised awards.
“Let the State government appoint staff within the Corporation as the General Managers and let this be a succession. Only those who are inside know the problem of the place”, he stated.
Mr Ogolo who x-rayed the challenges the Corporation went through since 2008 when he was appointed as General Manager said it did not receive any subvention from the state government during his tenure and called for a change at the trend.
He however, expressed hope that the present government would make the place better to enable it render greater service in line with the vision of the founding fathers.
He used the opportunity to thank the Management and Staff of the establishment for the cooperation given to him during his tenure and urged them to extend same to his successor.
Earlier in his brief remarks , the Acting General Manager and the Editor of The Tide, Chief Soye Wilson Jamabo lauded Mr Ogolo for his contributions to the growth of the organisation and wished him well in his future endeavour.
