Journalists Pay Tributes To Departed Colleague
The remains of the late Senior
Journalist with the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), publishers of The Tide Newspaper, Mr Isaac Ibe Nwankwo, were committed to mother earth on Saturday at his hometown, Umukpota Eberi in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Late Nwankwo, who died at the age of 53 worked on different desks in the Editorial Department of the corporation, but was Acting Assistant Sports Editor before his demise on 10th April 2015, after a brief illness.
The Director of Administration, RSNC, Mrs. Emi Jameson, described the late Nwankwo as a humble, peaceful and hardworking journalist who contributed his best to RSNC and the journalism profession.
Jameson, who led a delegation of RSNC staff to the burial ceremony noted that late Nwankwo’s death created a vacuum in the office and in his family.
She condoled the family members and urged them to take solace in God who has the power to make things better.
Also speaking, the former Chairman of Rivers State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and Zonal Secretary, South South of the union, Mr Opaka Dokubo, also described late Nwankwo as a friendly, humble and hardworking youngman who would be greatly missed by his colleagues.
At the funeral service in honour of the late journalist, Senior Apostle Raphael Dom urged Christians to embrace God and live life that is pleasing to him while on earth.
The man of God advised Christians not to allow joy of the flesh and material things to stand in between them and God, but to always remember that the journey of life lasts beyond the present earth.
He noted that while on earth, Nwankwo was a devout Christian who lived a life worthy of emulation and expressed hope that his spirit would find solace in the bossom of the Lord.
