Rotary Plans Toilet Facilities At Trans Amadi Police Station
The Rotary Club of Port
Harcourt District 9140, is to embark on the construction of four toilet facilities at the Trans Amadi Police Station in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The newly inducted President of the club, Rotarian Ann Anyaka, who disclosed this, shortly after her induction ceremony in Port Harcourt, also said that similar projects with an overhead tank will be constructed in two Girls Secondary Schools in Port Harcourt.
Rotarian Anyaka also said that sensitisation programmes on the importance of a clean environment to human lives would be organised in some markets in Port Harcourt and its environs.
The club, she said would also organised a medical outreach at Oroworukwo and Etche communities to inform them of basic health hygiene, while malaria and mosquitoe treated nets would be distributed across the communities.
The club’s President also reeled out other programmes to be embarked upon within the next Rotary year to include; skill acquisition programme for youths, as well as peace and conflict resolution programme to resolve crisis across communities in the state.
Rotarian Anyaka described the act of giving as an integral part of the Rotary Club across the world, stressing that the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt would not be an exception.
While stressing her commitment to ensure that the club continues to contribute to the upliftment of the society, she said that it is her desire to make Rotarians have joy in giving.
Also speaking, the immediate past President of the club, Rotarian Frank Egwu said that the past Rotary year had witnessed great strides in the provision of water and sanitation facilities, as well as health and educational programmes.
According to him, a community medical outreach was organised in Elelenwo to address basic community needs, while a set of Adenotensilocotomy was donated to the EMT Department of Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital (BMSH), Port Harcourt.
“A needs assessment exercise carried out at the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital (BMSH) established this need. “The equipment was donated to the hospital by the District Governor, HRM Noble Eshemetan”, he said.
