Estate Agent Hails RSG’s 100 Housing Units’ Initiative
The Rivers State
Government has been lauded over its determination to delivery 100 housing units in the first 100 days in office.
A licensed housing/estate agent in the state, Mr Geo Wome, made the commendation during an exclusive interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt at the weekend.
He said the government under the leadership of Barr. Nyesom Wike was fully aware of the pressing housing challenges in the state, thus the intervention.
Wome said there was no other project that could have immediately addressed the needs of the people than housing.
He explained that if the government could maintain its focus on such projects, that the state could boast of free accommodation for its citizens before 2030.
He argued that if past administrations was that zealous about housing facilities, that the State government would have considered other projects rather than housing by now.
The housing agent, also expressed satisfaction that the project would be delivered as specified following the appointment of Mr Emma Okah as its commissioner.
He said with the likes of Okah, the governor’s vision of the 100 housing units would be achieved in less number of days.
The Tide learnt that the 50 units housing project at Iriebe in Obio/Akpor Local Government is nearing completion, while work is ongoing on the remaining 50 units.
Meanwhile, he has called on the Housing Commissioner to workout modalities on how to recover all houses owned by the state and as well, flush out all illegal occupants of government-owned buildings.
