NCS Compliance With Trade Facilitation Excites Stakeholder
The Chairman, Board of
Trustees of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Chief Henry Njoku, has described the Controller, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Port Harcourt, Area II Command, Onne, Rivers State, Comptroller Abdullahi Babani, as a seasoned officer who has all it takes to enforce compliance on federal government fiscal policies and enhance trade facilitation.
Njoku made the assertion while reacting to complaints of challenges on cargo clearance at the port in a chat with journalists at Onne.
He noted that since his assumption of office, the Customs boss had showed commitment and created a conducive working environment at the Onne Sea Port aimed at fast-tracking documentation and clearance of cargoes at the port.
“The area command had witnessed a more robust working relationship and synergies aimed at boosting revenue generation to the federal coffers,” Njoku said, adding that Comptroller Babani is an articulate senior Customs officer endowed with adequate knowledge and dexterity to fast-track documentation and clearance of Cargoes at the port.”
According to him, his activities had been widely applauded by stakeholders in the Eastern zone of the command, describing him as a square peg in a square hole in Customs services.
The Board chairman of ANLCA however decried the activities of some licensed agents who most offen try to indulge in shoddy deals or act capable of distorting the smooth documentation and clearance of cargo at the port, and charged them to have a change of heart for the cordial relationship to sustain.
He therefore called on all the stakeholders and others in maritime business in the area to co-operate with the Onne Seaport Customs Area Controller adequately in order to enable him discharge his duties effectively.
