Bizman Hails FG For Lifting Ban On Textile, Furniture Importation
The Managing Director,
City Life Hotels, Chief Mekaka Wobo has commended the federal government for lifting the ban on the importation of textile and furniture products.
Wobo said this in an interview with pressmen , Sunday in Port Harcourt.
It would be recalled that the Federal Government on June 22, 2015 made the announcement via the comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Services (NCS), Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko.
He acknowledged that Nigerians could now import textile materials subject to payment of the right duty.
Wobo, noted that the development has shown president Mohammadu Buhari’s commitment to the economic development of the country.
According to him, the development has also taken Nigeria beyond the shores of local politics, but to the international community.
He explained that one of the advantages of the federal government’s gesture was to reduce the negative effect on the economy as a result of the dwindling oil fortune.
He advised Nigerians to work towards its full vision, while calling on local industry operators to make good use of the opportunity.
Wobo maintained that the informal sector of the country was responsible for about 90 per cent of the economic activities of the nation.
