AAG: NCF In Intensive Preparations
One of the coaches
of the Nigeria Cycling Federation (NCF) Emmanuel Ononsanya, said that Team-Nigeria has embarked on intensive preparations ahead of the forthcoming 2015 All African Games (AAG) scheduled to commence from September 4 to 9 in Congo, Brazzaville.
Coach Ononsanya who is also coach of the Rivers State Cycling Association made this known yesterday during a telephone chat with Tidesports.
According to him, the team returned from a two weeks tour of Cote d’Ivoire on Monday and is getting set for a tour if Edo State in Nigeria.
“We are in Lagos right now, but the team would soon travel to Edo State for another tour to further prepare for the task ahead”, he said.
However, Team Nigeria cyclists who are presently in the camp are expected to travel to Cameroon, after the Edo trip as part of preparations for the All African Games Competition.
Coach Ononsanya, said that the tour is to expose the athletes to the challenges associated with the competition before the fiesta proper begins in September.”All these countries, we are going to compete against them when the games get under way, so, the earlier, the better for the athletes to know what they are up against”, he said.
It would be recalled that the Nigeria Cycling Federation (NCF) has already qualified for the games.
