90 Graduate From Adventist Skills Acquisition Programmes
A total of 90 participants
who graduated from Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA), Ahoada District Skill Acquisition Programmes were at the weekend presented with certificate of proficiency and merit award in different trades.
The Director of the programme, Dr Solomon Egbe, in his key note address, while presenting the participants for the award, said the students were the third batch to be graduated saying the move was the honest contribution of the church to help the less-priviledge members in the society to fend themselves through acquiring skills of their choice.
Egbe remarked that the only way to curtail societal deviants, is for the unemployed youths to be encouraged to acquire a skill of their choice as a means of livelihood in order divert their attention from crimes.
“The much talked about “reformation will never be made possible unless less priviledge people are assisted by power outside themselves. It is God’s purpose that the rich and the poor should be closely bound together by ties of sympathy and helpfulness,” he declared.
In pursuit of this principle, he said the church introduced various trades that could enable poor families come self reliant.
Congratulating the gradaunds, the Director noted that though the programme was run free, about N5m is required to sustain it, and appealed to government, corporate bodies and philanthropists to come to the assistance of the church.
Speaking earlier, Pastor Vincent Marcus had described education as hallmark of development and told the participants not only to improve on their skill but expand their knowledge through research as according to him, the world need the best in every profession.
