PRED, Credit Bureau Partner On Customer Authentication

In a bid to improve service delivery within its operating region, Port-Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) and CRC Credit Bureau are to enter a partnership that will lead to improved customer authentication.
PHED provides electricity to consumers in four states namely Akwa Thorn, Bayelsa, Cross River and Rivers, while CRC is the leading credit bureau company in Nigeria with credit information of over 95% of the Nigerian lending industry covering commercial banks, non-bank institutions, retailers and utility service providers.
According to a jointly signed statement, the firms said the partnership would enable them share reliable information about customers which will then be used to determine certain levels of services that can be rendered to them.
The statement signed by the Man ger,Corporate Communications, PHED,Jonah Iboma and Head,Sales and Marketing CRC Credit Bureau Limited, noted that the Chief Executive Officer, PHED, Jon Abbas, said the decision to partner CRC was informed by the reliability of the credit bureau’s services over the years.
“A key element of business is to have proper information about our customer§,including their credit history. We believe that with our partnership with CRC, we will significantly improve on our Know Your Customers processes and also have a basis to extend better services to the larger Nigerian economy.”
Managing Director/CEO, CRC Credit Bureau, Mr Tunde Popoola, said the firm was elated to partner with a utility firm.
According to him” “We are excited about partnering PHED. We believe that as a leading utility that provides credit to thousands of customers in Nigeria, PHED will be in a better position if it has access to better information about its customers. This we intend to do by the impending partnership that we will sign.
“ As a firm existing with the purpose of creating and operating a consumer and corporate credit bureau in Nigeria, CRC, is happy to be partnering with PHED. We believe that our partnership will lead to achievement of greater things for both companie”, the statement added.
