Ogun State Command of
the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), said it generated N1.2 billion between January and February this year.
The Customs Area Comptroller, Ogun Command, Compt. The Ogun State Customs boss said the new feat was higher than the same period of 2014, when the command realised over 1.3bilion revenue with a difference of 180 million.
Haruna, further said, the command impounded 54 trailers transporting rice illegally.
The customs boss appeal to all Nigerians to see men and officers of the customs service as partners in progress and avoid trading in contraband goods as it affected the nation’s economy negatively.
While in her presentation, Mrs. Alaba Lawson, representatives of the mapping system’s advisory group said that no nation could develop without traders because their roles in growing the country GDP could not be over –emphasised.
She noted that the mapping system was intended to enable traders move freely, making reference to over 16 road blocks that are mounted along Badagry – Lagos routes leading to traffic gridlock, adding that her organisation wants to see a situation where movement of goods and persons can be free without harassment, intimidation and delay. On his part, the head of programme, GIZ Nigeria, Christian Widman, said the objective of the kick off was to engage Ogun State stakeholders consortium, federal level partners, private sector stakeholders and the media on the objective, methodology and strategy of the trims project.
