Ex-Supporters Boss Fears For Sharks FC
Former chairman of Sharks FC of the Port Harcourt supporters club, Minainyo Igani has expressed fears that the club may not perform impressively as expected, following the poor funding of the club.
He stated that the club could not travel early enough to honour away matches due to lack of funds, saying that would affect the performances of the players, as fatigue will surely set in, in the field of play.
Igani said this in an exclusive interview with Tidesports, yesterday in Port Harcourt, adding that the players were also not happy over their unpaid salaries and allowances.
“Honestly, it will be miraculous if sharks perform as expected in this football season. Besides, I am not even sure of the quality of players recruited this season. “ Igani said.
He acknowledged the fact that there is no money in the system right now, but appealed to the management and sponsors to provide funds early to enable the team travel on time for away games.
“ I am aware that there is scarcity of money in the country, most especially in Rivers State, but the sponsors should please source for money to keep the club afloat.
In spite of all that, some of the players have said that they are determined to move the club forward, saying that in “everything in life there are times for challenges and perhaps Sharks is facing her challenges now”.
The former supporters club boss, also used the forum to appeal to the players to put in their best to make a name for themselves and the state.
Meanwhile, Sharks earned their first away point of the season after being forced to a 2-2 draw in Makurdi by Lobi Stars FC at the weekend.
