Buhari’s Election Is Victory For Democracy-Davies
The lawmaker represent
ing Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Dr. Sokonte H. Davies, has described the victory of General Mohammadu Buhari at the presidential polls as a victory for democracy.
Speaking to journalists after a victory party for the teeming supporters of the All Progressives Congress from the constituency at his residence in Port Harcourt, Hon. Davies attributed the victory to the desire for change by the people, whom he said were tired of the retrogressive state of things in the country.
Hon. Davies, who condemned the harassement, intimidation and kidnapping of some members of the party during the presidential polls, reiterated the need for the security outfits and the Indepdent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide a level playing field for all the political parties in the forthcoming governorship and House of Assembly elections.
He expressed gratitude to God, as no life was lost in Degema Local Governemnt Area during the polls.
The lawmaker, who is a Director, Administration/Finance in the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation called on his constitutents to vote wisely during the govenorship and House of Assembly elections, adding that “a vote for the APC is a vote for credibility,and consolidation.”
Dr. Davies lauded the governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi for his enormous contributions to the success of the party at the presidential and National Assembly polls, describing him as a foresighted master political strategist.
The chairman of Rivers State Civil Service Commission, Sir Ngo Martyn’s Yellowe, chairman, Rivers State Scholarship Board, Mr. Ben Orugbani, Hon. Commissioner, Employment Generation, among others graced the occasion.
