Enugu FA’s Litigation Stalled …Election On Hold
The absence of Justice
D.V. Agishi of the Federal High Court in Enugu last week stalled the case involving the Enugu State Football Association and its chairmanship aspirants.
A chairmanship aspirant for the association, Raymond Nnaji, filed a suit in the court to challenge his alleged expulsion from the association.
The Nigeria Football Federation, the outgoing Chairman of the Enugu FA, Chidi Offor-Okenwa and the National Sports Commission were mentioned in the suit.
Also joined are the chairman of the electoral committee, Walter Chinonso, its secretary, Francis Ugwu, and the Attorney General of the Federation.
Nnaji claimed that the electoral rules and regulations were altered by the electoral committee to disqualify him from contesting for the post of chairman in the election slated for February 26.
Meanwhile, the court had earlier restrained the FA from conducting the election pending the determination of the suit filed by Nnaji.
Reacting to the development, the electoral committee secretary, Ugwu, said the election could no longer hold as scheduled since the case was still in court.
“We got an order from the court not to conduct any election in the state till the case filed against the FA is determined.
“As for now, the election will no more hold on February 26 but will take place in a short while in which the committee will communicate to all concerned,” he said.
