We Are In Need Of Sponsors -Tennis Coach
A member of the
Professional Tennis Players Association of Nigeria (PTPAN) has said that the body is searching for sponsors for its programme in the first quarter of the year.
Ubeibi, a former coach with Lagos State Tennis Association (LSTA), said this in an interview with newsmen in Lagos, recently.
He said that the body would strive to justify its existence through regular competitions.
“Right now, we are writing proposals to multinational companies, we are planning toward training tours and seminars and we are looking toward sustaining a monthly tennis tournament in Lagos.
“We intend to bring in more sponsors so we can attract more players from all over the country and not just players within Lagos,” he said.
Ubeibi said that the absence of sponsors was making players from outside Lagos to shy away from competitions because the prize monies were not usually commensurate with their efforts.
“Most players would rather not come to Lagos to play in a tournament that does not really pay much, but with more sponsors we can make it bigger by inviting players from both far and wide,” he said.
PIPAN was inaugurated to encourage regular tennis competitions.
