Education Commissioner Flags Off Techno Fair
The Cross River State
Commissioner for Education Prof. Offiong E Offiong, has declared open a TECHNO FAIR Exhibition/Award, which kicked off at the Education Board Ground, Michael Ani Secretariat Complex, Calabar.
The Commissioner lauded the Cross River State Technical Education Board’s achievements, in equipping students with technological and scientific knowledge through various Technical Colleges across the State, noting that emphasis had shifted from theory to practical works.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Ann Odey, represented the Commissioner, assured the people of government’s resolution to improve the educational standard across the state.
The Technical exhibition, tagged ‘’Dignity in Labour’’ was the State Technical Education Board’s strategy to showcase the progress recorded in various Technical Colleges across the state, which is in line with the state’s action plan, to produce capable artisans, develop, transform and sustain Cross River State technologically, through hard work for self reliance.
Items displayed for exhibition include; an automobile named ‘’Cross Napep’’, a grinding machine, palm nut processing machine, metal parkers/hoes, artifacts, cakes amongst others.
The Chairman, Technical Education Board, who was also the Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Fidelis Obo, maintained that certificates and awards would be given to deserving staff and individuals who had contributed immensely to the improvement of Technical Education in the State.
Responding, the Executive Secretary, State Technical Education Board, Mrs. Margaret Ene-ita, showered encomium on the present administrations for its developmental strides, especially in the Educationl sub-sector and also congratulated the eighteen participating colleges across the state, expressing satisfaction at the inventions of the students.
She urged them to keep on the good work, stating that the exhibition which started in 2011, had grown from strength to strength and would continue to get better.
