Rivers AG Blasts Politicians Over Courts’ Closure
The Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Worgu Boms has blamed some politicians hoping to be in government for the continuous closure of the court.
Speaking when some lawyers under the Lawyers for Change Nigeria Group (LNG) paid him a courtesy call last Friday in Port Harcourt, Worgu said that the desperation of some persons to rule over the affairs of the state were part of the cause of the crisis affecting the state Judiciary.
He stressed that he would not succumb to their antics and threats, but will follow the position of the law.
The attorney general blamed the crisis on the attempt by some people to allow politics to rule the law, saying that the law should not be combined with politics.
He said there was nothing wrong for lawyers to belong to a particular group or to form an alliance, so far as they are operating within the provisions of the law, and promised to sustain the cordial relationship as their professional colleague.
Earlier, Chairman of the group, Mr. Iheanyichukwu Dike, pledged their commitment to the success of General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) and Dr. Dakuku Peterside as they seek the offices of president and governor respectively.
Dike noted that his organization was in the business of carrying out the message of change to 10,000 people on daily basis, hinting that they would visit all the tertiary institutions in the state with the message.
