NRC Assures On PH-Makurdi Rail Services, December
The Managing
Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), Mr. Adesiyi Sijuwade has assured that train services from Port Harcourt to Markurdi would commence by December, this year.
Sijuwade dropped the hint in a chat with The Tide source in Enugu during an inspection of the on-going Port Harcourt, Enugu railway project, recently.
He said that all hands had been on deck to ensure that the dreams of functional rail transportation come to fruition, adding that, “Train services from Port Harcourt terminal mass transit that will be operating from Diobu, Elelenwo to Trans-Amadi through Imo River station would be running on daily basis when completed”.
According to the Managing Director, when completed, normal train services will start to move to other parts of the Eastern zone like Aba, Enugu and Umuahia.
“Our intention is also to have the services to Gombe State and when the insurgency stops, it would be expected to also move to Maiduguri,” he further noted.
