RSUST Begins Research On Niger Delta Erosion

versity of Science and Technology (RSUST) Port Harcourt has commenced a research programme  in the area of erosion prevention and control.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Burineme B. Fakae, who said this at the 29th inaugural lecture of the university said that the research project was in line with the mission of the unviversity which is to proffer solution to the challenges of its environment.
He said that it is against this background that the institution is holding an international conference in flood and erosion prevention, protection and mitigation.
The Vice Chancellor described the lecture entitleD “Appraisal of IndustrialiSation and Environmental Pollution: A marine Biology perspective”  as one of the best delivered in the university, stressing that the baseline data would help research institions to enhance their performances.
The lecture has touched the very purpose for which this institution was setup.

A university should be able to explore its environment and give solution to some of the challenges.
“That is what we see around. Automatically this affect us. This university will continue to provide solution to problems of the Niger Delta he said.
Earlier, Professor Fakae had said that the institution is now occupying central position in the educational development of the country, noting that RSUST is now the formost University in the country.
Also speaking a member of the Senate Lecture Committee Dr Zeb Obipi also said that the lecture has addressed the very core challenges confronting the Niger Delta.
He also said that the paper would also assist research institutions to carryout their works.
