NUPTE Sacks Williams – Led Exco
Members of the National
Union of Postal/Tele Communication Employee (NUPTE) Rivers State territorial have dissoloved the executive of the union led by Comrade Adah Williams Dawarikubo and set up a five man caretaker committee headed by Com Ibire A. Jonathan as chairman with a mandate to pilot the affairs of the union as well as conduct election in to the executive the of the union within period of two months.
The workers took the decision following the expiration of the tenure and the inability of the sacked executive to attend the congress meeting held last Thursday at the union’s office.
The absence of the executive members at the congress meeting attracted anger of members of the union.
The workers accused the Adah-led executive as being insensitive and high-handed to workers adding that they had been in the office for the past sixteen years.
The workers also alleged that the former chairman of the State NUPTE, Comrade Adah Williams Dawrikubo by virtue of grade level ceases to be a member of NUPTE which according to them is purely for junior workers.

Other members of the caretaker committee of the union include Nnegi Dikio (Secretary) while Anyaeji Michael, tony Nnee and Richard Barinua are to serve as members.
In his acceptance speech, the NUPTE chairman, Com Ibiri A. Jonathan thanked members of the union for the confidence reposed in them and praised to deliver on the Manadate given to them.
He urged members of the union to be law abiding and executive would work in synergy with all the stakeholders in the union to produce electoral guideline at the appropriate time.
He called on the management of NIPOST an and the general public not to deal with the past excutive led by com Adah Williams in respect to any matter concerning NUPTE in the state, as its four years tenure adding that had elapsed, adding that members of the union has constituted an interim leadership would pilot the affairs of the union.
