RSG Restates Commitment To Human Capacity Dev
Rivers State Government
has restated its commitment to human capital development.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Youth Development, Sir Owene Wonodi who disclosed this at a one-day workshop on Peace, Reconciliation and Conflict Resolution organised by the Rivers State Council of Nigerian Youth Volunteer Corps, also said that the government was working through various ministries, departments and agencies to reduce youth unemployment in the State.
The Commissioner urged the volunteers to shun violence, warning that Rivers youth must not allow themselves to be used by desperate politicians to cause chaos in the State.
He urged them to key into every opportunities of the government to improve themselves, noting also that the private sector was also being supported through the provision of conducive environment for their businesses.
In his address, the Rivers State Volunteers Superintendent of Nigerian Youth Volunteers Corps, Prince Immanuel Rohi, said that the organisation which came into the State in November 2013 presently has more than 2000 youths as members.
Comrade Rohi said that 2000 youths were ready to volunteer their services in the area of community services such as environmental sanitation, peace and conflict resolution amongst others.
“Nigerian Youth Volunteers is a vehicle of rebranding and re-engineering for youths of tomorrow, the future hope of our beloved country to be responsible, responsive and answer to Nigerians unanswered questions,” he said.
He urged more youths to join the group to enable it spread the message of peace in the State.
