mittee chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Council, Chief Andy Nweye, has said that the council decided to reintroduce the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in the area to institute culture of cleanliness among the people.
Speaking with newsmen last weekend at Ahoada, Chief Nweye said that the programme has become necessary to ensure the cleanliness of Ahoada and its environs.
According to him, for the last ten years, Ahoada town and environs had not witnessed any sanitation exercise, stressing that this has resulted to the proliferation of refuse heaps in the area.
He said that, sanitation mashalls have been engaged by the councils to more round the communities during sanitation exercises while pay loaders and other evacuation equipment will be provided for the evacuation of refuse from all communities in Ahoada East.
Chief Nweye also told newsmen that the council intends to restrict movements during the forth-coming sanitation exercise, noting that, the security agencies will be directed to arrest vehicles coming from outside the state.
On security, he said that Ahoada Town is now crime free following the renewed commitment of the security agencies to assist the council in checking criminal activities in the area.
According to him, the situation is now paying off as number of criminal activities have been checked by the police.
Chief Nweye also said that the council has paid all outstanding security allowances to the police, State Security Service (SSS) and other security Agencies in the area and urged for the support of the people.
