NEDEP To Create Three Million Jobs
The Director-General,
Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Alhaji Bature Masari, has said that the National Enterprise Development Programme (NEDEP) would create more than three million new jobs.
Masari, in an interview with the newsmen in Kaduna, said NEDEP was established to address the problems affecting micro, small and medium enterprises in the country.
He said the government’s intention between 2014 and 2015 was to create a minimum of three million new jobs for Nigerians under NEDEP to get rid of poverty and unemployment.
Masari said the programme would identify products or services in each local government across the state to set up identified enterprises in every local government area of the country.
“This is in line with the desire to foster enterprise creation and development all over the country,’’ he said.
He said NEDEP was one of the tools for fighting poverty, urging Nigerians to key into the programme.
To ensure the success of the programme, he said SMEDAN had collaborated with some banks to provide funds to Nigerians who might want to set up enterprises.
The banks, according to Masari, included Bank of Industry, Stanbic IBTC Bank, FCMB and First Bank.
