Gunmen Kill Four In PH
Gunmen in the early hours of yesterday in Abuloma, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State, killed four persons in what is suspected to be a cult group reprisal attack.
The Assistant Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers State Police Command, ASP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, said that the incident occurred at Biterleaf Hotel, a popular night club along Bitter leaf Estate in Abuloma.
ASP Iringe-Koko said that, the younger brother to the owner of the hotel, who is also the managing director, has been arrested, while investigation is on-going.
However, residents of the area told The Tide that those killed in the hotel were customers who had lodged in the hotel the previous night.
According to resident of the estate, who spoke under condition of anonymity the victims of the attack were not residents of the estate but strangers who normally spend the night in the hotel.
According to him, as soon as the gunmen gained entrance into the hotel, they opened fire, killing some of the customers who were having some fun.
He said that the incident, which occurred a few minutes past 12 mid night, threw the entire estate into confusion.
Another resident, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the gunmen left immediately through the waterfront after killing their victims.
The respondent, who claimed to have lived in the estate for eight years, described the incident as horrible, stressing that they now live in fear.
As at the time of filling this report, the three entrances to the hotel were cordoned off.
