Ondo FRSC Vows To Reduce Road Crashes
The Federal Road Safety
Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Command has reiterated its commitment to drastic reduction in road crashes in the state.
The Sector Commander of the Corps, Mrs Aderonke Daniel, made the commitment in an interview with journalists in Akure.
Daniel spoke on the sideline of an award of excellence given to her by the students of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA).
Daniel said that the state command had intensified effort in putting strategies in place to combat speeding among drivers to reduce accidents, injuries and possible casualties.
“This year’s optimum goal of the corps is to make accident and fatality reduce in great measure.’’
She added that part of the strategy being used by the corps was to visit motor parks and schools, starting from primary school to tertiary institutions.
She said that the strategy was designed to sensitise the students on the need for safety on roads through the corps Road Safety Clubs and Special Marshals.
“The rate of road crashes in Ondo State has been reduced to a barest minimum as a result of pragmatic sensitisation programme embarked upon by the FRSC.
“We do visit motor parks, schools and higher institutions as well as government agencies and parastatals.
“Various strategies and opportunities have been put in place to educate the people.
“Some tertiary institutions in the state are members of these fleet operators under the Road Safety Standardisation Scheme (RSSS) and the team has safety manager that trains the drivers,” she said.
The award was in recognition of her meaningful contributions to the welfare of youths and society.
The FRSC boss warned that the command would not be lenient with any motorists found wanting or flouting the rules of traffic in the state.
