Defunct PHCN Staff Get N370bn From BPE
The Director General,
Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Benjamin Dikki, says the BPE has remitted the sum of N370 billion to the office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) for the payment of staff of the defunct power Holding Company of Nigeria, (PHCN).
The BPE boss who stated this recently in Abuja said the verification committee, chaired by the permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Power had verified to date a of total 45, 136 staffers for payment, out of the 47,913 workers.
He said the agency’s nationwide verification of the possible 4,194 PHCN retirees, 2931 or their next of kin had been verified with a total of 1, 163 yet to be verified.
Dikki advised pensioners or their next of kins who were yet to be verified to do so as the agency was making extra efforts to pay those category of pensioners soon.
He further explained that out of the 47,913 on the list, the agency received from PHCN, 45,136 had been cash backed to the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation for payment.
