The Federal Govern
ment has approved an orthography for the teaching and learning of Etche language in schools.
The Bishop, Diocese of Etche Anglican communion, Rt Rev. Okechukwu Precious Nwala, who disclosed this when the Etche Brothers Assembly, a socio-cultural organisation in the area, paid him a courtesy visit said that work on the translation of the Bible into the Etche language has commenced.
Rt Rev.Nwala attributed the under development of Etcheland to lack of a leadership structure, stressing that most politicians from the area were ready to mortgage the collective interest of Etche people for their own parochial interest.
He criticised the high level of inconsistency on the part of some personalities from the area on the issue of development of the area, stressing that this must not be allowed to continue.
The clergyman commended the Etche Brothers Assembly for its commitment to the promotion of peace and development in Etcheland and urged the body to remain focused and consistent.
Earlier, the President of Etche Brothers Assembly, Sir Chima Choko, had said that the body was on a mission to see to the peace of Etcheland, especially during the 2015 elections.
He said that the group will meet with all stakeholders both in Etche and Omumu Local Government Areas to sensitise them on the importance of peace in the area.
