Kogi Govt Approves N3bn For Construction Of Four New Roads
The Kogi State Govern
ment has approved the award of contracts for the construction of four new roads across the state at a cost of N3 billion.
The Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Yabaji Bologi, disclosed this at a news briefing in Lokoja, recently.
Bologi listed the roads as Otokiti-Ganaja dual carriage in Lokoja metropolis awarded to Ceezahi Construction Company at a cost of N2billion and with a completion period of 18 months.
Another is Ajegumu-Ofomu-Oduogboyaga road in Dekina local government area awarded to Tech Engineering Construction Company at a cost of N592 million.
There is also Lion Club-Geregu road in Ajaokuta local government area which was awarded at a cost of N163 million to Zerock Construction Company.
He said the fourth, Ponyan-Irele Kogi/Ekiti boundary road was awarded to Weinbandt Nigeria Ltd, at a cost of N146 million with a completion period of four months.
Bologi expressed the hope that the roads would reduce traffic jams in Lokoja and boost transportation at the grassroots when completed.
The Commissioner also said that the state executive council approved contract for the purchase of twelve 32 – seater buses at a cost of N110 million.
Bologi said the vehicles would be deployed to Lokoja and other major towns in the state to ease movement of goods and passengers.
