LG Spends N1.1bn On Staff Salaries
The Kwande Local
Government Council in Benue State has said that it spent more than N1.1 billion out of its federal allocation of N1.4 billion on staff salaries last year.
The Chairman of the Council, Mr Bem Tseen, disclosed this at a news conference in Makurdi.
Tseen said the council had promoted 300 senior staff and that the promotion exercise for the junior cadre would soon be conducted.
He said that staff promotion in the council had stagnated since 2002.
On revenue generation, the chairman assured that the council was taking measures to improve its revenue generation.
The chairman commended the state government for supporting the council in the area of security, stressing that the intervention of the state government had quelled several communal clashes.
