Commissioner Defends Amaechi’s Move To APC
A commissioner in the Riv
ers State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Mbadiwe Ewoh has said that the movement from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) by the State Governor, Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is in the overall interest of the state.
Speaking during a courtesy call on him by the forum of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward chairmen in Ahoada West Local Government Area, Chief Ewoh said the decision would usher in more development projects in the state and give the people a better sense of direction.
The commissioner urged all progressive politicians in the state to support the Governor to move the state forward.
Meanwhile, more than one thousand exercise books have been purchased by the commissioner for distribution to all schools in the area.
Announcing the gesture during a courtesy call on him by the executive members of the National Union of Ahoada West Students in Port Harcourt, Chief Ewoh said that the gesture would help to advance the cause of education in the area.
He also urged the students to sensitise their members against being used by enemies to destabilise their communities and advised them to shun all forms of anti-social behaviour including cultism.
According to him, time has come for the students to work hard and excel in their academic endeavours in order to become useful citizens of their communities, the state and the country at large.
The commissioner also vowed to continue to promote and encourage educational activities in the local government area.
Earlier, the national president of National Union of Ahoada West Students, Mr Kingsley G.G. Ebiga commended the commissioner for his numerous activities which have touched the lives of the people.
Ebiga particularly lauded the efforts of the commissioner during the 2012 flood disaster which ravaged the area as well as his personal contacts and recommendation letters which have helped a good number of youths to get employment opportunities in multinational companies operating in the area.
