Rivers Baseball Moves To Discover Talents
The Rivers Baseball
and Softball Association (RSBSA), last pledged to nurture budding talents discovered at the ongoing Garden City Baseball and Softball League to stardom.
The RSBSA’s Head Coach, Jacob David, told newsmen in Lagos on telephone that the body had so far spotted 20 talented players in the ongoing league.
David stressed that players discovered would be kept engaged in competitions on a regular basis, to hone their skills for future national and international tournaments.
“We have observed the brilliant performance of some of the emerging players who are currently representing their clubs, since the commencement of the league.
“We will ensure that the players are closely supervised, to ensure further improvement in their skills.
“With this initiative, the players would be able to represent the state and the country at competitions in the very near future,’’ he said.
The coach also noted that the league had increased the popularity of the sport in the state, adding that it would also enhance its growth at the grassroots.
Six baseball and six softball clubs are currently participating in the league, which commenced on September 1.
The league, which is in the maiden edition, ended on Oct. 26 in Port Harcourt.
