Supreme Court Adjourns Omehia/Amaechi Case To Nov 11
The Supreme Court, yesterday, in Abuja, adjourned to November 11, the case between Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and Celestine Omehia over the governor’s gubernatorial re-election in 2011.
The Supreme Court had taken the decision to enable it consider application for joiner filed by some anti-Amaechi politicians in the state.
The Tide learnt that the anti-Amechi politicians’ legal team had begged for adjournment yesterday to enable a consolidation of a motion in which the respected judges of the Supreme Court agreed to.
However, shortly after the Supreme Court adjournment, the Rivers State Publicity Secretary of the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal Governor Amaechi, George Ukwuoma-Nwogba, said in a statement that, “Amaechi’s government is on course.
“In as much as we may not wish to praise the learned and highly respected Supreme Court Justices, the drama in the nation’s topmost court today (Thursday) showed how confused those seeking for Amaechi’s seat are.
“The same people asking for time were today seeking for adjournment. Let them be told that there’s no vacancy in the Brick House until 2015,” the PDP added.
