Secretariat Complex Excites HOS
The Head of the Civil Service of Rivers State, Barr Samuel LongJohn has expressed satisfaction with the level of cleanliness in the State Secretariat Complex.
Barr. LongJohn stated this Monday, shortly after undertaking an unscheduled on-the-spot assessment of ongoing work and to ascertain the state of sanitation in the Complex.
He commended the Director of special Duties in the Office of the Head of service, Dame Josephine Chukuigwe for her efforts in ensuring a clean and healthy work environment and urged her to maintain the standard as well as improve on areas that needed urgent improvement.
At the ongoing construction site of the Public Convenience located behind the offices housing the State Museum Barr LongJohn urged them to expedite work on the project and free the drainages of debris to allow for unhindered flow of waste water.
He hinted that another Public Convenience would be constructed behind the offices of the Civil Service Commission to serve those within that vicinity and advised those in charge of maintaining the Public Convenience already in use behind the Podium Block to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and ensure its proper usage.
At the conference Hall of the Establishment Bureau on the first floor of the Podium Block used for lectures by workers undertaking the Special Diploma Programme, the Head of Service promised to give it a facelift to make it more convenient for lectures.
Other areas visited by the Head of Service included the offices of the One Stop Shop for Pension Matters located at the ground floor of Podium Block, the ongoing construction of more office spaces for staff of the Pilgrims Welfare Board, refuse Dump Sites as well as the entire landscape to create more parking spaces for vehicles.
Barr LongJohn, however, frowned at the indiscriminate parking of vehicles and ordered that tyres of vehicles parked by their owners at unauthorized places be deflated.
