Police Nab ‘Lunatic’ For Terrorism
A madman popularly known as “Professor” that lives along Sani Abacha road, in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, has been arrested for an offence police described as terrorist act.
According to the reports, the man whose age was guessed to be about 45, and hailed from neigbouring Delta State was apprehended while trying to set ablaze a fuel tanker at the NNPC Mega Station.
“If the man had succeeded, it would have been a great tragedy for the state as the entire mega station, nearby Redeem Christians Church of God (RCCG) state headquarters and other public and private buildings would been destroyed”, said an eyewitness.
The report said, six tankers had arrived the station on the previous day, and while taking turns to discharge their products, “Professor” decided to play havoc by stuffing plastic wastes under one of the tankers’s tyre and set fire on it, but the driver and others who saw the huge smoke in time, were said to have put it off before any damage could be done.
The madman was later arrested and handed over to the Police.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Alex Akhigbe described the suspect as a pretender, saying that he would be taken to a psychiatric hospital to determine his proper state of mind.
