Delta Govt Declares Asaba Airport Star Project
The Delta State Commis
sioner for Information, Mr Chike Ogeah, has declared the Asaba Airport as the star project of the state government led by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, describing it as game changer in everything the state is doing.
Mr Ogeah who stated this in an interview with newsmen recently said apart from facilitating the fast movement of people between Delta, some Eastern States and other part of Nigeria, the airport has influenced the creation of more employment and development of human capital.
“In that Airport, we are developing massive human capital because the Delta State Ministry of Education is providing some major scholarships for Delta indigenes that are training as Air pilots and other related aeronautic education activities”. Ogeah stated.
The commissioner said, besides employment is being created, for instance, the kind of shuttle services of the taxi and other auxiliary activities that are going on, including trading, cleaning and one would be shocked the number of Deltans who are engaged already in providing various sevices.
He explained that already the airport has been designed by the federal government as an Agricultural Cargo Airport, pointing out that aside being an industrial cargo airport where manufactures can move their heavy equipment and all that around that airport, you are going to soon see the development of green house as part of efforts to engage in agriculture.
The commissioner noted that the Asaba airport is strategically located and it would be put to use in many ways, especially taking comparative advantage of products locally produced.
